Pearl Jam was founded in Seattle in 1990 and is one of the key players in the grunge movement. Their record-breaking debut album Ten was their definitive breakthrough, featuring the hits "Alive," "Jeremy," and "Even Flow." They surpassed the other grunge icons from Seattle, Nirvana, but always tried to focus on the music, not the fame. The group didn't release any singles from their next album, Vs., yet it debuted at number one and sold nearly 1 million copies in the first week.
